Celebrating Our Two-Year Anniversary!
Can you believe we are already celebrating the second anniversary of the Your Law Firm Is a Business podcast? We certainly can’t! We couldn’t have made it this far without our listeners – thank you for supporting us, and we are eager for another two years with all of you! In this blog, we reminisce on a couple of our favorite episodes, what we have learned about hosting a podcast, and what we plan for the next two years.
A Couple of Our Favorite Episodes and Key Things We Taught Each Other
One of Mark’s favorite episodes was episode 15, “Top Three Systems/Procedures Law Firms Often Overlook but Have a Huge Impact.” The three systems were intake, billing, and file closing, and as someone who focuses on marketing and driving new business to law firms, this really impacted him. He also enjoyed episode 80, “Let Zapier Make You Happier,” when Melanie gave a few examples he hadn’t thought of so he could then share some opportunities with account managers.
Melanie enjoyed episode 54, “Legal Deserts,” since she admitted to previously knowing nothing about it and liked that it was also intertwined with tech. Speaking of tech, Melanie also enjoyed all of the tech hack episodes, especially learning about the Splitwise and Honey apps.
One Thing We Each Learned About Hosting a Podcast
One thing Mark learned about hosting a podcast is that consistency is key! We recorded a couple of podcasts a few times a month, so we would regularly have episodes dropping every week. The consistency led to a nice steady growth of listeners.
One thing Melanie learned was not to edit your own podcast. It’s not the highest and best use of your time. Delegate it to someone who is better at it than you. We have a team of people who help us to create the show every week so we can focus on what we do best.
What We Want the Next Two Years To Look Like
We would love to be able to interact more with you – our listeners! We love to get feedback and offer webinars or in-person meet and greets to create more of a community. Additionally, we would love to know what topics, as a law firm business owner, keep you up at night so we can cover them on the show.
We look forward to helping you grow your law firm moreover the upcoming years!
