A Recap of the 2023 ABA Tech Show
By Next Level Pod on April 19th, 2023 in Uncategorized
We had some fun at the 2023 ABA Tech Show! We went to many sessions, discovered many new and interesting vendors, and, of course, learned about a lot of new technology. From the keynote to the lunch and learn, every session was informational. There was also a notable thread throughout the sessions surrounding AI and what its impact has been and will be in the legal field.
The keynote was a panel of legal visionaries led by Jack Newton. The visionaries included people like Ken Bennett and Aaron Levine. It was an inspirational way to start the show and demonstrate that no matter what you do at your office, we were all at the show searching for improvement or change. It was great to hear their stories.
We listened to the “Process Mapping Made Easy” session with Jen Lee Law and Danielle Hall from the Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program. They broke down the idea that you don’t have to be professional to sit down with your team and discuss your marketing efforts.
Another session we experienced was called “Early and Often: Better Client Communication Through Automation.” It was led by Jen Lee and Regina Edwards from Lawyer On the Beach.
They talked about how they communicate with their clients and how we have to focus on how to communicate with clients to make not only our lives easier but also the clients’ lives. Clients need consistency and will accept automation if it solves their problems.
The Lunch and Learn put on by Clio was next. In this session, they discussed how to become an anti-fragile law firm and provided us with a checklist of what to do, which was very helpful.
We also learned about “ChatGPT For Lawyers” by Tom Martin. He talked about how ChatGPT works and shared what good case scenarios would be. The primary takeaway is that AI is acceptable if you are transparent and let people know you are using it.
The sessions didn’t end there. We also heard from Ashley Pepitone and Regina Edwards on flat fee billing and humanizing your client experience with technology from Ashley Pepitone and Trina Garcia.
Listen to episode 88 of Your Law Firm Is a Business for a quick recap of the sessions we experienced. We hope to see you there next year!
